LM 2 - WC Rustin 2
The Aces traveled to West Chester Rustin for a 10am kick off on Saturday. Rustin has had another nice season to date, and currently sit in second in the AAA district standings behind an undefeated team from Harriton.
We conceded an early penalty and Rustin converted to make it an early 1-0. We were able to make it through the rest of the first half unscathed.
The second half didn’t start out much better unfortunately. We committed another foul just outside the right corner of the ‘18. The ensuing free kick was whipped in and a Rustin player beat us to the near post to put us down 2 goals for the first time this season.
Our luck, however, turned with 22 minutes remaining in the contest. Carson Cox (I think, but please correct me if I’m wrong because the video is very grainy), took a half-chance shot from nearly 30 yards out. The Rustin goalkeeper snuffed it and the ball trickled in to get us on the board.
With 10 minutes left, we lined up or a long throw. The throw was flicked on twice by Aces headers and found the feet of Sam Polichino, who deked out his defender and slotted it by the goalkeeper to even things up.
After two 10 minute periods the game remained tied and the Aces walked away with a hard fought draw.
Ultimately not our best performance, but very encouraging to walk out with a point against a very physical and skilled team from Rustin.
