LM 1 - Strath Haven 0
For the third consecutive game, the Aces earned the opportunity to play bonus soccer when Strath Haven visited Arnold Field Thursday afternoon.
Games are typically quite close with Haven and frequently require overtime to determine a winner. Two of my four years were decided with a golden goal— though to be fair we scored directly off the tap my senior year.
Anyway.. Caden Arnold’s game winner on Thursday may not have been as outrageous, but it certainly was just as sweet. After a long day of unsuccessful long throws, the Aces finally converted thanks to a Carson Cox flick that Caden got a touch on and buried.
I said it last time and I’ll say it again: it may not always be pretty, but this Aces team continues to find ways to win.
So now let’s really get to the fun stuff.
Tomorrow night the boys travel up Montgomery Ave. to take on Harriton. The game was initially scheduled for early September, but was postponed due to weather. Harriton has had a tremendous season to date with 13 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie, and this will unquestionably be one of the toughest opponents we’ve faced to date. With Conestoga and Radnor’s 1-1 draw yesterday, this game could very well end up being the de facto Central League Championship as the Aces and the Rams currently sit atop the CAL standings with just 1 loss and 1 tie each. Should be a very exciting contest; we wish the boys luck. Vamos Aces!
